Critical Care Services

ICU Care

Inpatient ICU consultation:

Critical Care consultation take place in the Intensive care unit in the hospital. Our physicians are trained and certified in critical care medicine. We work with the ICU team of physician and nursing staff to provide care for a very complext cases. Most of those patients have multiple specialists involved in their care. The Critical Care Physician understand the complex physiology of human body, manage complex medications and drips, mechanical ventilation, and coordinates care with others.

Invasive procedures

Patients in ICU may require procedures, we perform a wide range of procedures using state of the art ultrasound and radiology techniques. This includes: chest tubes, bronchoscoy,  central lines, airway management and intubation among others.

Outpatient Post-ICU admission care

  • It is very common for those admitted to the ICU for prolonged time to get readmitted to the hospital. Most of the times this is related to their complex situation, weakness and missed issues in their care after discharge.
  • There is a growing population of survivors of critical illness with constellation of problems known as post-intensive care syndrome (PICS).
  • Post ICU follow up, done by critical care doctors in the office and in rehab centers prevents costly and complex hospital readmissions.

When should you ask for Critical Care Consult?

  • Any patient with more than one condition gets admitted to the ICU. (eg: Kidney Failure and Pneumonia, Heart attack and lung failure)
  • Any patient gets admitted to the hospital with gradual deterioration and downwards trend, leading to the ICU.
  • Patient with respiratory failure needing weaning from mechanical ventilation.
  • Post discharge from ICU hospitalization with complex medical problems.
